Default 60/40 vs. 50/50....

Are there any real advantages to either one? I have searched around and most peple seems to run 50/50 now a days, but a couple of years ago 60/40 seemed to be the "hot ticket".

yeah I noticed that too..maybe due to wheel weights there is no need to do that.

That is also a advantage that you front clears and rocks faster but then you rear links also hit the rock latter and you get hung up as well. 50/50 is the most common right now though.

I was just contemplating setting up my TCS Eclipse for 60/40...it's still advantageous I think.

In fact, we had a driver at our comp on Sunday with a sweet little hand made chassis that was set up in this configuration....he was planted all day.

It adds weight bias toward the front end by nature of the displacement, without the need for adding insane amounts of additional wheel weights.

Some might argue that the rear will have a tendency to hang up a bit more, but I'm surprised that more drivers don't run a 60/40 split to be honest with you.

as with anything in crawling, it's a compromise.

60/40 will help you climbing by getting more weight up front but hurt you descending and possibly unbalance your rig in flexy situations. If your local terrain is mostly steep climbs then it might be worth trying.

All the stuff I drive on is sidehilling, some technical short climbs, moderate breakovers, and lots of flexy situations so 60/40 doesn't work well.

but then again if you flip that dig switch you can go down just about anything (if you run pro) i would think that for pros i would run 60/40 full weights in the front and for novice i would probly run 60/40 with less front weights. but i was running 50/50 before i made the switched from axial to berg and it did great. i would say try to get that tranny as far as you can up on that chassis plate and call it good. but thats just me.

I run mine 60/40, and I'm quite happy with it. It does have a tendency to want to have the rear end get lite on a steep down hill, but if I would remember to use dig going down it would work better. I think the advantages far out way the disadvantages of a 6/40 set up. Heres my rig as it is now, droop in the front (tmaxx shocks with axial rods in them) and sprung tmaxx shocks in the rear.

60/40 was my ticket. My rig never felt so grounded or perdictable

Last sundays comp she wheeled into 4th 8 points from 3rd
Thats a huge jump from the 17th that I pulled last month
"yes I said it out loud "

But like others said you have to tune your rig for your terain

I have to say, i am on the fence on this one. depends on the corse design.

my current comp 2.2 is 45/55 and am about to try a 4-link f / 3-link w/panhard rear that is set up on the ...way other side of the tracks__________with a 35/65 f/r
its only a scaler but its fun to be different

>If i did my geometry right

i'm running da tigress with 1" longer links up front and she seems to handles anything pretty good with that set up, kinda like a 55/45 favoring the front....we ran a friendly comp last friday with a best score of -60 points possible the way we set up the points, i scored a -57 -55 -58 in three runs with just reverse points added....i think that was pretty damn good for her first comp setting .............bob
