| IFS and Solid Axle Diff. Gear Ratios
I want to build a trail-rig of sorts, with IFS and a solid rear axle, like the Pajero or Touareg. The thing is, using diffs that were not meant to go together, I need the gear ratios of the diffs to be the same so all the wheels turn at the same speed. I am hoping I could run a T-Maxx front end, and match it with something like a TXT rear. Both diffs will be locked, but I assume that the tooth count in each bevel/ring gear set may be different. If I counted the teeth on the bevel gear and the diff gear, and did the math, that would give me the ratio, right? Or am I way off track? I need to find the ratio of the driveshaft to the wheel axle for each. Does anyone have the gear ratio numbers for the following? I have plugged in the nubers I have found for a few by searching. If these are wrong, let me know. - TLT Axle TXT Axle - 2:1 T-Maxx Diff - 2.84:1 Revo Diff - 2.77:1 ? Savage Diff Clod Axle (obviously not just the diff, but from the motor to the wheels with stock 13tpinion) - 30.1:1 I realize if it is just IPS front and solid rear, I could just go buy a Touareg, but where is the challenge in that? Any help would be appreciated. Last edited by Mad Scientist; 10-18-2005 at 08:24 PM. |

WTF IPS Are you talking about IFS TXT roughly 2:1 to the eye could be wrong I didn't count the teeth. Last edited by Cole82; 10-18-2005 at 07:53 PM. |

To keep it simple and not have to mix and match, couldn't you just build a solid rear axle using your rear T maxx diff? One day I wanna build a high speed baja trophy truck. I'm planning on using my E maxx diffs. I want to.................... Build a complete custom rear housing and 4 link that. Build a completely custom loooooooooooooooooong travel front IFS. Then try my hand at a tube chassis. First though,I gotta get these crawlers done,if they ever are |

| I TRIED TO MAKE A REPLICA OF MY LIFTED 94 CHEVY A WHILE BACK WITH A USA1 FRONT DIFF AND A CLOD BUSTER REAR DIFF. I WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH TRYING TO MAKE THE TWO AXLES THE SAME GEAR RATIO. KEEP ME UPDDATED WITH THE BUILD. |

Raptorman, I was actually thinking about going that route. The only hang-up I have, is I want it to be a fairly "scale" looking rig, and I wanted a realistic rear axle. I still may go that route, since it would be a fair bit cheeper to just get an old T-Maxx roller.

Why not use the front suspension and diff from a Kyosho Inferno 7.5 and a Mad Force rear axle? They use the same indestructable diffs.

That would be a VERY good combo. Very strong and a little more scale looking if thats what is desired. | |
