Default HPI/ Hot bodies Crawler?

First off, did a search, came up empty, so if this has already been covered, forgive me for my ignorance...

But I ran across this Italian hobby site and noticed HPI has a full on crawler in the works.....

Check this out, about halfway down the page, right below the tank. Called the C10. Looks pretty nice I guess..... lots of stuff in the chassis, wonder if it has a front-rear dig like the Losi?

Looks interesting but it's hard to tell anything from the pic they got of it.

If I wanted a WK crawler I would have kept the one I built a year and a half ago. I'll pass.

IIRC, I think Hot Bodies bought HPI, so that explains the WK base.

I hope Hot Bodies sells the axles seperately and that the tranny is smaller than the Venom Creeper..

x2 Have they not noticed the decline in WK sales?

For the life of me I don't get these Japanese companies....

Tamiya does the CR-NO1, Kyosho does the RockFarce, I just don't get their marketing strategy.

Wait... I just envisioned it...

General Manager to Product Development: "OK guys, we're sitting on a metric ton of this Wheely King stuff, you guys need to figure out a way to unload some of it".

HPI was created and is based in the USA by a Japanese guy, so does that make it a Japanese company?..

actually the CR-01 isn't doing too bad, well here in Japan at least. Its cheaper and there is way more support in option parts then there is for Axial... Can't say much for the RF and WK though...

It looks like they have *gulp* done some research before making this thing!

The steering servo is mounted on the far side for a longer steering link (better geometry), axle mounted 2/3A battery pack, the wheels seem to have some backspacing (definitely more than my Axials, don't know about the stock WK or CK wheels though)

Too bad they had to go use the stock clearance-robbing clamping system though for the lower mounts, and changing from that to a less bulky mount will render the servo/batt mounts unusable. Still, even the CK has those trimmed well down, so it's not as bad as the WK. Rear axle lockouts, well triangulated 4-link (can't tell antisquat or how much room there is for adjustment).

I like it for a mainstream production rig, although I've only ever used WK axles for my 2.2 and don't know why everyone is hating on them yet.

You are right on that, looks like a widemouth only with less top link adjustability and more leaned back shocks. My noobness made me fail to catch that

I'll pass on this one, tranny looks unusual but thats it. WK axles are inferior to axials, so whats the interest.

First impressions:
  • Shocks are too long, articulation will be out of hand
  • Motor is up way too high like the Venom
  • WK axles had lots of weak points, large C's, Poor plastic, too many catch points, ridiculous link mounts
  • Chassis looks good
  • Looks too wide, guessing very close to 11"

All in all though, looks like it is better than par for a production crawler. Most things look pretty easy to fix. I would choose AX-10 axles over WK axles any day of the week though.

I would give them a solid 7 out of 10 on the minimum info that I can pick up from those tiny pics.

What's with the receiver pack? Do they really expect people to run their crawlers on 6 volts?
