Default Wiring Question

I tore my Jeep apart to cut the battery box off and skidplate it. It ran perfectly before I took it all apart. I got it all back together last night and now the front axle turns at half the speed the rear does. I soldered everything I had to reconnect, and I didn't cross any wires, so what am I missing. Is it possible a bad solder joint is causing my problems? I think I am gonna resolder them tonight just to make sure. Any other ideas? Thanks for helping a noob.

I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM EXCEPT WITH MY REAR AXLE. i DID THE SHARPIE MODIFICATON AND ALSO TURNED THE AXLE BACKWARDS BUT REWIRED THE WIRES RED TO WHITE AND WHITE TO RED SO THAT THE REAR TIRES WILL NOW GO FORWARD AND NOT IN REVERSE, BUT NOW MY REAR AXLE TURNS AT HALF THE SPEED OF THE FRONT AXLE AND ALL THE WIRES HAVE A GOOD CONNECTION TO EACH OTHER. ANYONE KNOW HOW TO FIX OR ANY IDEAS.

yeah, that was the second thing that i checked after checking the wiring. i don't know if i burned up the rear motor or what. it still turns just not at a 1:1 ratio with the front. when you crawl it sucks because it has no power

also another thing that i was thinking about is that when you flip the rear axle, you get the reverse gear ratio and speed now, right? atleast that is what i was thinking, which also means that it isn't as strong as if it was facing foward in the stock position. Anyone that has done the axle flip and rewiring know anything about this or got any suggestions.

the gears inside dont look like they would be any stronger either way.
as long as the board didnt get cooked or stray solder on the board that should be ok.
my rear gearbox inside the axle house got all gummed up somehow(running only on rocks,no dirt or mud)
& it would go slower & stall alot.
eventually it fried part of my board & the rear would only go one way.
so i cut it off the board & rewired in with the front on the board.
but my gearbox still is tight & stalls.
you might take the gear box out & see how easy it spins.
it should spin very easy(take the motor out)
there was a big difference between my front & rear gearboxes.
hope that might give you some sort of direction to go!!

Jeepguy, you have both your axles wired together, running off the same side of the board? Does it seem to work ok that way because that is my next step. The little black squares ( sorry new to this whole r/c thing don't know what they are called ) on the bottom of the board get hot on the front axle side but the rear axle side runs cool. This makes me think I have a bad connection somewhere in the front wiring causing resistance.

i didnt wheel it too much because the rear was still locking up & had alot of drag(the cause of burnt board)i imagine it would work for awhile.

probably better to wheel a little at a time.
lettin it cool down. or just slow crawlin.
i figured it was try that or go buy a esc & stuff one of my 4 channel flight packs in there.
if it fries when i get my rear fixed(gonna try cleaning it again//more thoroughly-pulling every gear, cleaning, & inspecting them) then i will do upgrade..
but funrise is sending me replacement parts/i requested a rear gearbox & new board!i will see what they send.
the failures were not caused by the mods i did so i requested new parts.
it it were something that i did//like if i put 4 times the size of tire// iwould not ask for new parts.
you should double check all the connections & look for solder where it isnt supposed to be.
the front might be gettin hot because its running full! causing more current to flow=hotter parts.

did u check yur gearboxes yet?

Went through it last night. First i cut out the soldered connection I made on the front axle, and reconnected it, still the same. Tore apart the front axle, everything turned freely. I then connected both axles to the rear axle side of the board. That seemed to work well, both axles turn at the same speed and the board doesn't heat up. If it burns up the board, I guess I'll build a chassis, 4 link it, and get an ESC. Thanks for the help.

Yukon, I don't have a pic here at work, but I can tell you how to do it. Just take the wires for the front axle and splice them into the rear axle wires reversed ( white wire to red, and red wire to right). Thats all I did, the part of the board that runs the front axle was screwed up on mine, so by doing this I am running both axles from the rear axle side of the board and so far it seems to work. I hope this helps.

i got my replacement this weekend..
i'm gonna pull the rear gearbox out of the new one & run it in my old setup//i wanna see how long it will hold up with good gearboxes.
they sent me a whole new unit.controller/bat/charger/new scorpion!!
i soldered the rear connections to the board with the front connections../didnt reverse the first time & had to redo it..

now i got some good spare parts..
glad u guys got em goin!!
make sure you check the gearboxes so it doesnt fry the other half of board!!
a sticking rear box is what cooked mine..

hey jeepguy, did you get a free whole new scorpion or did you have to pay a little bit for it. did you just tell them that your rear gear box was stripped out? Mine did the same sort of thing

like they say on monster garage "FREEEEEEEBIE!!"

i asked for a gearbox & a board since my frozen box fried the rear part of my board..
they sent me a brand new rig//just like my original.
i ran 1 battery through the stock unit.
then tore out rear gearbox & stuffed it into my old one//which is a stick now. i cut off the entire chassis & ran a pc of all thread with a swivel on it through both axles.
but the axles are stalling again.
i dont think having them wired together gives each motor enough power.

so i think i am gonna do some small mods to my new one & not go to hardcore with it.
probably swap my cut tires & camo tub on it & maybe my coils.

lower it down a little & throw a spare on back.
make it a kinda stock cruiser.
maybe it will last longer that way??

or maybe???
i'll swap both of my shaved axles in there?
better leave it kinda stock for now!!
