Default Super Slicks 1/24th

I dont know if this is considered scale or micro so if i needs to be moved, go for it.

These are just a couple pics of some mods me and a buddy did to some Toys R Us Super Slicks 1/24th scale crawlers.

Sorry for the bad pics, the only camera we had was a camer phone.

Oops, forgot to post the mods done to them.

Locked front and rear diffs.

Body lift.

Cut shafts out of the shocks and glued the springs to the shock bodys for more flex.

Thats about it. They crawl awsome but i can only get about 30 minutes from 4 AA batteries.

Does anyone know of any bigger tires that would fit the stock wheels on these things?

No No! The new Super Slicks look like Kyosho Mini-Z Monster knock-offs.

losi mini-t tires are almost perfect, with some careful glueing you should have what you want.

Default Here's mine...

I went ahead and got the "Off-road" kit. A little lower gears and motor gear, but not much. I locked the front and read diffs with epoxy. I hate using alkaline batteries or rechargables, so I cut off the the battery compartments and rewired it for a Nikko 4.8v pack. The H1 body fits over the pack, but of course really high COG.

How did you wire it up to accept the 4.8v pack? I ask cause I am sick of going through 8AA in an hour of wheelin. Thanks for any info.

Sweet. I just got one a couple days ago. My plans are to install an orion esc, a micro servo and at the end of the week I'm going to look in to buying a set of venom mini giant oil filled shocks.

I saw those the other day. I'm going to get a set for my digicam. I have one set of NiCad's for it, but the backup batteries are just alkaline.

I cut off the battery compartment and took out the metal connectors. Then unsoldered the the red and black wires and soldered longer wires with Deans plug and put the same on the battery pack. It's kind of hard to get an iron in there with all the small wires, but doable. And I suck and soldering.

Keith

PS, still doesn't crawl worth a **** though! I'd like to narrow the wheels and put some different tires on.

How well do you think the 1/18th Nylint tires would work on this? I was thinking about trying to get ahold of some and see how they do. It would narrow the width of the car, I think. I have never messed with a Nylint so im not sure if the tires are skinner or not. Just a thought I had.

Baby Nylints are probably the same width or more narrow, but maybe twice as tall. The GenII SS doesn't have enough torque to roll the stock tires up my shoe, so with bigger meats... it would really suck more than it does now. I've got a buddy with around 4 1:18 Nylints, I'll try to get some tires from him and see how it does.

Sweet. I have been wondering how they would do on the SS.

i got one of these and now it kicks ***, i did an xtreme narrow to the wheels and used moodified stock tires, i have a rear locked diff in and a front locked diff waiting (i broke my first truck and got a replacement with the off road kit, so now i have to sets of the diffs, 1 locked 1 unocked)

im thinking about cutting out the shock shafts and want to know how stable it is without.

im thinking on a custom chassis to mount a central motor and add 4wsteering
