| Twin Detonator 1 link crawler completed. Pics!
Ok, after alike 120 hours of trial and error work(this project started about a year ago) I finally have a finsihed project. At one time i actually had 15 inches of center clearance and a 22 ich wheelbase lol. I custom made a 1 link suspension. First of its kind I THINK. Oh, and please don't nag on my braising too much. I'm only 15 and haven't perfected the skill yet. Well here are some pics, and let me know what i need to do to make it a better crawler. Also, Can I gear this thing down? what about a gd600? I could do lathes, but I'd rather gear down. here ya go.... Oh, I'm really having trouble down sizing this pics----- Last edited by Supernova803; 11-09-2005 at 03:02 PM. |

How about some pics with the body off so we can see this "first of its kind" chassis? You have to include the manditory flex pose too.

...yes, you can stuff GD600's in there, and they work great Pic Pic 2 Pic 3 The GD-600 mod did require slightly grinding the case out a little to allow it to fit. As you can see I am running lathes, but IMO it's too low geared with the GD's. So the GD's with your stock cans you have already should be just right BTW, I am now running a traditional chassis. Nice rig. I dig the lid |

Nova, cool rig! You've got a good start on things for your age. Your brazing will get better, and you'll be able to use better materials when you start working and can spend some $$$$. Like Cole said, some rod ends and things like that will make things look 100% better. Cole, that's a cool chassis that you've got there too! When I was 15, I was mackin' it with a stock Clod running a Monster Beetle body. (Yes, it was a long time ago... Screw you mrwonderful) |

I love the originality and creativity, even though it looks like it ran over a land mine.

I agree, your brazing skill will only get better. Man you should see some of my early welds...they were hideous.

Not a bad effort for raiding the 'ol erector set and dad's tackle box! Way to make it happen with what you've got on hand. I've got to hand it to you, for 15 years old you're showing a lot of initiative and imagination. You're doing fine with the brazing, it's not the easiest thing in the world to do. Keep at it! |
