| First Delrin Chassis Build
Just wanted to say that if anyone out there is thinking of building a new chassis, don't be afraid to jump right into it. Delrin is a really easy material to work with. This is my first chassis build and everything went really smooth. I didn't use any specialty tools. Jewelers saw, dremel, and cordless drill did it all. I traced my chassis design onto the .125" delrin, rough cut both sides out with the jewelrs saw. After that, i bolted both sides together, used a drum sander on the dremel to smooth the edges and get both sides exactly the same. Drilled all the holes while still bolted together and thats it. So anyone who would like a new chassis, wants to experiment with building one, just wants something different than the stock chassis, dont be afraid to try it. It feels good to crawl with your own creation. I know mine isn't perfect, but im pleased with my first try. I'm sure i will make more in the future. (here she is without electronics) |

I didnt get to crazy with the design since it was my first. The lower portion is exact specs as stock creeper chassis, i just added the top section/shock mounts. I just went with what i knew would work.. i will get a little more creative on my next creation. i know it looks similar the hellstrom, and kinda generic. i was just trying my hand at fabbing up a chassis, not making something earth shattering. there will be more, more original, more creative ones in the future.

I think you did a great job. Don't let anyone get you down........many designs look similar, and if this is your first attempt then you were smart to go with a proven setup. Now go test the Hell out of it, and incorporate your changes into Rev B Last edited by C*H*U*D; 09-11-2009 at 09:35 PM. |

^^ I agree, it looks terrific. The finish is pretty good too for a hand fabbed job. Don't get too worried about what it may or may not look like, just drill some extra speed holes in it and it'll look different again. |
