| Double steering link setup for ind. susp?
On my truck that i am building right now it has dual a arms in the front and due to the weird positioning of the servo it is right ontop/front of the steering knuckles. I was wondering if you could use that double link steering system(dunno what its called) on a ind. suspension truck.

No, i think the bellcrank was the original setup but if a bellcrank is like this seen in the link http://www.earlycj5.com/wordpress/wp...8/image013.jpg then yes thats what i mean.

That kind of steering won't work properly when you have independent suspension. You will get a lot of bump steer (from both wheels) plus I think your steering has a good chance of binding up unless you leave a lot of space between the two links and everything else.

You cant do that. Everytime the suspension moves the distance between the wheels changes. The bumpsteer would be ridiculous.

could i use ball joints on each axle? or do you guys have any other ideas that would work? Since the way the servo is placed it is about 2 or 3 inches above the knuckles and it is positioned in front of the front tires and knuckles.

you need a four link system for this,,you need a crank at the pivot point of each arm at the chassis,,then a link from the right wheel to the right crank,,then a link between the right and left cranks then a link between the left crank and the left wheel,,the steering links will follow along with the suspension as it moves,,the servo link can then be connected to the closest crank to power the whole thing,,,four links
