| Steel or aluminum gears
I got an ax10 transmission. The truck only weighs about 5 to 6 pounds. Tekin esc & 35 turn motor. Just went to 3 cell lipo & WOW. Stripped idler gear before I ran down the first pack. No i don't want to run a slipper clutch. Which one would be the best , Aluminum gears or Robinson Steel gears. I don't want this to happen at a comp.

Hot Racing AX10 Transmission gear set. Meshing is great and the material should be durable enough. You'll probably strip the plastic spur, stock outdrives, or driveshafts before this in a forceful attempt to get your tires free from a tough bind. |

Already got aluminum driveshafts. I think I'll leave the spur as my weak point. Their pretty cheap & easy to replace.

Those integy gears suck. The only gear that is worth while is the spur. The lower gear doesnt use the same bolt pattern for the outputs, so if you run other outputs for some reason (like for the DNA dig), you'll have to drill new holes in that gear. I have had excellent luck with the Robinson Racing gears! http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...1&I=LXXBK3&P=K http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...1&I=LXWTN3&P=K |

No problem. It's better to read about other's bad experiences than find them out for yourself. BTW, I have been beating on those RR tranny gears....7T puller and I've been intentionally trying to break the Felsenfest CVDs and the RR gears just laugh it off. I have killed a front hardened Axial overdrive ring and pinion set though.... |

Okay I am pondering the RR gears & a slipper now.I want to keep the breakage down to a minimum. Does that make me a Panzie or is it an okay combo.
