| Introducing my new rig-tippy
Just mock-up pics, haven't had time to take any pics of real progress. Sides wouldnt want to give away any more info until it's finnished right? As you can see the tranny is mounted on the front axle (if your going to beat a clod you have to think like one). I'll run a drive shaft from the tranny to a shaft mounted on ball bearings in the frame which will have another drive shaft going to the rear axle, so in a sense the tranny is just moved up and the space left is replaced by a rod. I have another 1/4 scale servo comming for the ass end so I can do the crab thing. Plan is to cut everthing below the pivot points and make a nice smooth skid, should result in 5" of ground clearance but a chassie that bairly goes over the top of the tires. Wheelbase is a tad bit more than 18" (makes turing fun!). The battery will go below the output shaft on the rear axle because it points at a angle so I wont really lose any ground clearance. Another thing you might see is the lack of a 4 link, this truck is being built with stability in mind and not much else so articulation is not anywhere near the top of my list of things I want, should end up with about 2" per wheel... I HOPE to have it done for the October 16th get together in KY, just a matter of getting all the parts in time now.... |

8O That is weird! I have almost the same setup on my workbench! I bought some MF axles on eBay and got a new TXT chassis on RCMT. I am using an EMaxx tranny though. Mounted normally in the chassis. I am interested to see how yours works with the tranny on the axle like that... |

nice idea with the tranny and keeping the chassis under the tires but without articulation you will never beat a clod you need the travel. |

Thanks alot guys, I'll be sure to post some pics of it when the axles are finnished (half the rig is the axles ). Not alot of fabrication to it-the big problem is making it all work Hey ADICT, is Overkill going to make the trip with the new rig? We should have a good little group this time around, Brad's truck is just lacking the speed control so there should be around 6 trucks there |

Nice and unique. Will be very interested to see what the dredded linked torque twist of the shafty will do with the tranny being unsprung. I think you can still have a very stable 4 link setup, 2" travel at 18" WB is going to hold you back IMHO. Definately keep us posted. |
