| Looong Rear Driveshaft?
Need a 7" long rear drive shaft for my crawler project due to this emaxx torpedo chassis I'm modifying - already has the long CVD but it's not long enough - am I going to have to make one? Any ideas? Thanks |

I saw someone make a driveshaft out of a square bar and a square tube that had Xfactor CVDs on the ends. and also a tmaxx driveshaft that was longer by gluing a inner spline on a long shaft and cutting another outer shaft with the joint cut off , then sliding an out put shaft on it. kinda like a coupler on pvc pipe. Search around, its out there. good luck |

I made my shafts with 1/4" wobblies,1/4" allen wrenches,1/4 sockets and a small piece of 1/2" tube. Came out pretty good,a guy could easily make any length he needed.

Sorry,no pics :( just built them 3 days ago. I'm technologically declined,no digicam. I'll take some with my rusty,I mean trusty ol 35mm though and post up when there developed. A wobblie is ,well a wobblie. Seriously though, its a device used in an application in conjuction with 1/4",3/8",1/2" and 3/4" drive ratchets and sockets to reach around corners where theres not a straightline shot. |

I glued several e-max outdrives together to stretch the driveshaft on my shaftie. Worked pretty good, but I'd be concerned about strength in a stock maxx rearend... (mine had 20:1 axles and therefore much less torque)

I would suggest using Maxx driveshafts. You can combine a few male and female ends together, glue some of them, to make one long slider. Then slip a brass tube cut to length over the whole thing. This adds massive strength and armor, making the shaft quite beefy. I havent broken mine yet... Sorry it's not the best picture, but the driveshaft on Graz is like 8". RYan |
