I know with a Clod you could easily have all three. But I have a shafty so please if you must talk about Clod superiorality at least answer my question.

Actually on a Clod you can't have the ground clearance. Maybe under the center of the chassis but under diff clearance the Clods loose big time. Even a Jugg/TXT axle has more under diff clearance than a Clod.

Toyo is right... But they're also relatively narrow, so the side to side breakover angle isn't THAT horrible. But it needs improment. I'd fix it if I had the time :(

I vote COG and Clearance. Gearing isn't THAT important, (thank you lathe motors)

Thanks for the replys. I didn't know that Clods don't have much under axle clearance, I have X axles.

Also toyofast have you shipped my free stickers yet?

LOL, I started out with stacks of clearance only to find the CoG was too high. I sorted that out by inserting lead rings in the tyres and wrapping lead sheet around the lower axles. This sorted out the CoG quite well but made the vehicle much heavier so I needed more grunt to pull it up steep climbs so had to then fit very low reduction unit!

I think good clearance is important or you just get hung up on rocks etc all the time. Not much point in having a low CoG if you spend the entire time stuck on the first small rock! The super low gearing enables you to drive slowly enough to carefully place the tyres to avoid problems as well though.

I have 4" of under chassis clearance on a 12" wheelbase vehicle, shaft driven.

BTW I used independant/wishbone axles for my crawler but locked them in the max droop position to form live axles but with the advantage of much greater under diff clearance than on conventional axles. These are then suspensded from the chassis using 4 link arrangement. I only run 2.2" tyres (IMEX Swamp Dawgs 4.75" dia) and I still have more under axle clearance than a Clod on 6" tyres
