Soldering with a torch (oxy/acet) is plenty strong. Soldering like dropping solder on your your iron..... Not as strong. There is some AWESOME tube chassis fab here by Jay, aka roktoy on this board. http://www.mindspring.com/~jayk6/rcs...ab/tubefab.htm When done right.... I'd say its strong enough!!! But its like any welding, its as only as good as the welder! | |

Has anyone welded aluminum tube with anything other than TIG? or MIG? I was wondering about doing some brazing on aluminum, but I don't know much about it. I was thinking about soldering, but wasn't sure about that either. I know I can get the aluminum hot enough, but not sure if I can control the heat and not get it to hot. |

I tried aluminum welding rods by muggy weld. I had no luck but they were willing to talk on the phone to me. Still didnt help.

Ok thanks guys. I never would have thought about brake line, thats a good idea. I am in the process of getting a tmaxx from another member on here and im thinking of caging it. Lord knows as much as i maybe try to keep it in the mud, it will go arolling down hills and such. |
