Default Leafspring to TLT axle mounting + shackle questions

Did a search and looked at all the results and came up with next to nothing. I'm trying to find out the best way to go about mounting leafsprings to the tlt axles. I found on ORCRC's forum TerribleOnes new bruiser framed jeep and i see he just drilled the center out and bolted it down to the axle, and then had to build some sort of special L shaped piece to mount up to the rear axle (i'm assuming that was for wheelbase purposes). Next up is the shackles. Would the tamiya suspension stays from the tlt kit work as long as i use the triangle-shaped ones as the hanger and the longer ones as the shackle? Of course, that all depends if the leaves even fit inside of the stays or not, but if they did i could conceivably use them, right? I could hack off the side where they mount to the axles on the stock truck and just use the 'sides' of the stay as the shackle, i suppose. Well thats all for now. Thanks.

Hey zapper

Yes the leaf springs do fit inside the tlt suspension stays pecies. You can use them as shackles but you will need to trim them up a bit.

Are you planning on using a bruiser frame? the reason i had to make those L shaped pecies was because the bruiser frames are so wide in the rear. But if you are just going to make a frame you can just bolt the leafs to the axle like i did on my front axle.

Yeah i plan to make my own frame, not use the bruiser. I'll be using 1/2" square stock as the basis (beefy, if not too beefy) for it all. Sounds like a go though from what you're saying. As for screwing them into the axle, is there any way to do it without taking the spring pack apart and without using some sort of u-bolt? I've not ordered the springs yet so i don't have them here to play around with at all.
