are you still using the stock radio and reciever?
no, new radio and reciever

Why didn't you shave the rear axle? That seems to be more important then the front.
thats next on the list; im actually thinking of getting someones spare front axle and going 4 wheel steer (really easy to do with aftermarket servos). its that or relocate the rear motor to above the axle housing and shave it then.
as for the frowning on nylints, i could care less. i am happy with what i got.

CRAP, i got this thing because i am on a major budget. i want to put a real servo on it, but cant because of all the goofy wiring.....so i was hopeing you were still running the stock radio and reciever with the new ESC....thats sort of out of the budget....but a ESC and servo wouldn't be but 50-60...

yeah to do it right its best just to replace it all.

I spent about $110 from tower hobbies. it is wayyyy more controllable now with the HG stuff though.

any reason you didn't mount the servo on the front of the axle?

you could then make a new tie rod with rod ends and a drag link to go from the servo to the tie rod mounts on each knuckle.....would keep from having to use the flexy stock mount that the drag link runs to in the stock setup.

also, how are the motors doing with lower voltage?

you definately need to pick up a dremel, a have had one for a couple of years and it is truely a nice thing to have. Also i think i was the only one to spot the cutting in there just something didn't look right in the rear axle and i wont have to cry myself to sleep anymore.:-P yyeess!!

the motors are doing fine. they pull like almost no amps because of the giant gear reduction.
as for the location of the servo, if you look closely you can see that that flexy mount is about 3/4" shorter than stock. this reduces the amount of load on the plastic by ~33% not even figuring in the added triangulation. also this servo is HUGE, it wouldnt fit on the front very well.

the first thing i did was change the body and just that made a huge difference (lighter, lowers CG, allows for more flex). and now with the HG electronics it does everything i want it to. ill try to get some pics this weekend on the rocks.
