| Old School Stampede Tranny Q's - newer steel gears?
I have a scaler with a locked up Stampede tranny in it. It is one of the older black case versions. Gears finally went in it. I have not cracked it yet, so not sure which one, but figure to replace all while I'm in there. Prefer to go all steel. Wondering what from the newer trans's fit in the older ones? Traxxas #'s 3195 Steel top drive gear 2388x Steel ringed Planetary 3696 Steel Idler Will all these fit in an older case? Mods necessary? Any of the shafts, pins, etc wear that I should replace while it's apart? thx for the help! |

All the VXL stuff will go in. I would get new teflon shims from Traxxas, a new pin for the input gear, and new bearings, then you should be good to go!! |

Yeah, that trans has been around forever, anything in the Slash should fit, just like said above.

Thx for the chimebacks! I have had a couple of Pede trannys in other rigs, but before the VXL time. I had alum idlers, but always plastic top and dif gears. Didn't know they had teflon shims now. Thx again!! |

i would also suggest replacing the input gearshaft, as well. the newer VXL trannies use the REVO spec slipper.... to be honest, i would suggest just checking ebay, as VXL trannies are around $25 new |

I ran a stampede tranny in a super for a while.....all steel gears and I also found a metal case (the one I used was from Fastlane Machine) helped keep the gears in good shape. It removed any case flex that the stock plastic might have introduced.
