| electric revo conversion
How hard would it be to simply replace nitro engine on revo to lathe motor? I want to keep it stock other than this and i have long travel rockers installed. I will still need spools and electronics but i think it should be fairly easy. Just a thought tho and still dont know if i want to frankenstein a $500 revo...ouch! |

It's been done before. There are entire chassis conversions, but really, the chassis is part of what makes a Revo a Revo. But I have also seen a coversion that used the original chassis, and mounted a brushless motor in the place of the Nitro engine. An additional top plate was used to secure the battery packs. It looked nice, and I am sure it is loads of fun as a basher. But the CG seemed to be a bit for crawling purposes, and then you still have independant suspension.

Well, Revo's have been converted into BL machines several times. But, if all your going to do is put a lathe in it to go slow, you might as well just take the axles off, 4-link them, and scrap the rest

I say try it. I still havent seen an electric revo on some rocks. I bet it would work pretty dang good considering independent susp. If you did it right it could kick ***, and still be reconvertable to nitro if you wanted.

i have been trying to find an article i read once about a revo conversion. the guy did a fantastic job. e-maxx tranny, brushless system, EVX, and two costume battery trays for the sides. it was really the best and neatest REVO conversion i have seen. for the life of me i cannot find it though. think it was either on the traxxas site or RCUniverse. "E-vo" was the name i think. i'll keep looking. |

I'd have to agree that Daf's Revoxx is the coolest conversion. My brother and I help supply stuff to him. Since he lives in Switzerland, he has orders shipped to my house and then I fill up a really big box full of orders and send it out. Saves a little money for him. That Revo was actually at my house for a week, I couldn't keep myself from playing with the suspension. Sorry for the hijack. You could also get the Gorillamaxx G2R roller for $550, but that's a little expensive for driving slow. |

i read the G2 chassis were really heavy too. they do look sharp for a aftermarket chassis though. i like DAF's design because of it's simplicity. he didn't do alot of hacking or chopping to it. just add ons for the most part, although the battery tray's are a really nice design. combine his design with steve slaydens mods ( http://www.traxxas.com/support/index...471&artlang=en ) and i bet you would have a great crawler i had a revo for a while. the suspension does rock. get it set just right and you can turn at high speeds and it will stick to the ground. |
