| Axle winching, Is it allowed in comps?
Well i have crawled quite a bit, and ive noticed that on most of the 1:1 rigs in a club in my area, they use axle winching to lower there COG, Is it allowed in comps, BTW By axle winching i mean pulling the front of the chassis downward by means of a winch connected to the front axle. Please lmk if this is legal in comps, Lance |

Yes, it's legal. There are a few comp builds around here that use winches.

I've wondered this two, place a winch or a servo to pull the front end down on steep hills, but i was told it has to be a permanent type deal like a zip tie

yes lance its legal. read the rules Official RC Crawler Rules 2005-2010 here is my tlt tuber i built before my berg new comp tuber! o 2.1.5 - Winching down of the axles is allowed. The winch line must be attached within a 1/2" of the center of the axle, and by a single attachment point only. o 2.1.6 - All suspension mounting points must be fixed mounted. This includes all link mounts, and shock mounts. o 2.1.7 - There are no limitations on the amount of radio channels used on a vehicle. o 2.1.8 - Active Suspension is allowed - A suspension that is interlinked (such as the 1:1 Scorpion, excluding the air bags used to raise and lower the vehicle) which by design moves part of the suspension in one direction when moved from another. This does not have any driver input. o 2.1.9 - Forced Articulation is allowed – Forced articulation is the use of something such as hydraulics or electronics to literally force the suspension to move in a driver-controlled manner. |

| ahhh yes, i remember that!!! you don't see too many winch down set-ups now days on R/C rigs. i am guessing it has something to do with all the MOA's out there and how it would probabally put extra weight above the motorline on one.... i'd say it will depend on how you are building it. are you building it to be an actual comp rig, or more of a basher/scaler? Could rule 2.1.9 be a loop hole to bypass 2.1.5 so you can mount it away from the center of the axle

To be completely honest idk, mostly comp rig but it looks like it could be one hell of a scaler/bash rig to. | |
