It don't have the 3 speed tranny in it? What's in it now? Is the motor solid silver? If so, that is the stock silver can (27T). You got any pics of the setup?

A little more info would be needed before any real help can be given. If the stock 3 speed is no longer being used, what gearbox and overall gear ratio would help. Battery and electronic info could also be useful. Lastly pics are worth a thousand words.

Is it underpowered as in stalling out? or lacks speed? or both?

It could be a motor or gearing issue.
If you want speed, a 17t-19T motor would be good. If you what to trail run/crawl, a 35T motor should work well.
