Question how long do you keep your crawler?

do you guys keep your crawler for a couple years or do you sell it/ get a new one every year?

is it diferent with a scaler compared to a comp type crawler?

thanks for the help

I went through a few axials pretty quick in the beginning. I am still comping my first MOA (with a few changes). I've had a "round to it" new comp rig in the works for about a year? Other rigs come and go.

I've never sold a rig. Sold a few rims and what not, but never a rig. Mine just evolve. I started with 3 2.2s Now I have an unfinished 1.9, an unfinished 2.2 and an unfinished 3.2

i've gone through 3 since I joined here, fell away from the crawler scene unfortunatly, wich is why i've been a regesterd member for years, with almost zero activiity, but i'm back and loving it, I just regret selling my rigs :(

1 clod super (not my thing)
2 AX10's (shafty is the way to go IMO)

I plan on building a scale mud truck, and a scale tow rig and trailer for my crawler

I was changing axles every season but now I've spent two years getting the Losi's to work.

I suggest use it, abuse it, then move on after you've worn out the bearings

I've still got a pti rig I had when I joined this site... if you have something that works or is fun why sell it.

Comp rig, I will try to keep as long as it is useful. So far I think two or three years is the best I have done. Scale rig, keep it until it is no longer fixable, fun, or if I sell it.

I personaly think that a comp rig can be changed acording to the latest tecnology. A scale rig on the other hand doesn't need much and doesn't matter if it is one or ten years old. I also like the fact that a scale rig can always be sold even if old, at a good price, a comp rig, if not competitive anymore is very hard to sell at any price.

I put a lot of work into my cars/trucks. I rarely sell a car unless I absolutly don't want it anymore. I hold on to my stuff because I put a lot of time and effort into them, plus I know I'll never get my money back out of them, they are worth more to me than I can sell them for.

amen to that, it really just depends on the person. Some people just can't hang on to stuff and spend more money in the end. I put a lot of time and thought in to my rigs and it's hard to part with them, once I own the components I don't see the point in selling them for a fraction of the cost.

Just depends I guess.

Mudder, Up grading is a constant and never ending effort to be at the highest level of competition.
I don't know if you've ever comped with the Minnesota guys at Taylors Falls (MNRCRC) but they have instituted a Pro Shaft class. This allows people with shaft trucks better competition and gives additional longevity of older shaft equipment. They also feature a sportsman class.
If you haven't checked the MNRCRC out you should it's a great club with a awesome crawl location.

I'm keeping all of mine from now on. I always regret selling them once they are gone.

I started with my ax-10 ran it for 2 years changed chassis 3 times bought my LNC and never put a dime into it. Then added LCC tranny. Only thing I've done to it was add new links and different wheels and tires. I haven't found anything I would want to replace it with.

And I thought I was the only one that every time I sell something I regret doing it, but than I want something new... and since I CAN'T have all the crawlers at the same time I have to sell something.
