Ok, What exactly do you mean by building from scratch? How scratch are we talking? What exactly do you want to build? I know you want a scaler but do you want a hardbody, a lexan body, do you want a tube chassis, do you want to buy all the parts and bolt it up or make your own chassis? What is your knowledge of mechanical stuff? Do you feel comfortable taking on a project like this? Ahh, how much will it cost? Well that really depends on what you want and what you are willing to spend. I would say that you can get going with probably as little as $250 if you get some good deals on used axles, electronics, and stuff like that. If you want to buy everything and you want to buy it new you are looking at spending at least $350 to get a rig built and up and running. Of course you can spend as much as you want to spend, if you have 2k to throw at stuff im sure you will find something to buy. If you arent sure what you want look at these different sections for ideas. Find what kind of rig you are looking to build and go from there. Once you find what you are looking for see what other people are using and you should be able to put together a nice parts list to start finding everything you need. Some of the scale truck kits out now are very good and of course you can make any modifications that you want after you try it for a while and see what you want to change.
