ATF (auto tranny fluid) is considered by some to be similar to 10W fork oil in motorcycle shocks and is used often, so it would work. What it is considered close to in RC oil, not sure. baby oil, mineral oil, cooking oils, suntan oils..... all should be OK in RC shocks and shouldn't hurt rubber o-rings and such. Just may be a pain to clean out when you do get shock oil. And they all will be a guess on their weights. |

Water with a couple drops of shampoo? Pee in it? When my shocks pop open out on the rocks I just screw the sucker back and carry on, oddly doesn't seem to make a big difference running one of 'em empty. Seriously, any light oil should work. But tuning is the key. Cheers. |

I vote vegetable oil. I like the way it performs, but I can't say anything for the long term because I just started using it.

If you can't afford shock oil then don't put anything in the shocks. How much difference could it possibly make for you? | |

instead of finding an alt for shock oil why not try saving $3 and get some real shock oil to me that sounds like the easyest thing to do. and you wont screw anything up and get your rig full of crap. like already said if you cant afford it. dont put anything in them till u can get some. go look under all the couchs and check all the vending machines coin return slot |
