| looking for tank treads
Hey everyone, I am working on a land rover project for my service learning class at UC Merced. Bascially I am looking to buy a txt-1 and add tank treads on it for simplicity. Where can I find tank treads like this Or is there any kits out there that is a better idea? |

I mounted a set of the Radio Shack tracks on a Clod a few years back. Not sure where they are now but the mounting would be the same on the TXT axles. |

| http://cgi.ebay.com/MATTRACKS-TRACK-...item2c57322ae5 is the cheapest set I've found.. $32 aint bad really, the cost of tires sans wheels.. Would have to make an adapter to get down to 1/4" hex, but shouldn't be to hard at all.. Hell, I may snag a set for the MRC for snow-time this winter! ~Kev |

ThunderVP, do you have any more pics or details of how you mounted the mattraxx onto your clod? I have a set that I'd love to add to some TLT axles.

I don't have any more pics at this time. I went digging and found 1 track. The internal hex drive is 8mm and uses a very long axle shaft. The steering hubs also are keyed so the track assembly doesn't flip over. I sized it up to a TLT axle and it should be a very easy fit if you have the tracks with the steering hubs still on them. The hub is a little too tall to fit the TLT C but with a little grinding on the metal steer hubs for clearance, they would bolt right up. The drive axle fits right in. For the Clod I had to open up the pin slot for the thicker axle and use spacers to addapt the wider clod C to fit the steer hubs. Last edited by ThunderVP; 09-24-2010 at 03:53 PM. |
