Default walk in the park (scale crawlin)

I finaly got my scaler put back together enough for a little wheeling session, I think this is my new favorite crawler! I love it, even with the open front diff (120,000wt diff lock oil used) waterproof electronics are a must with me, I was trying to avoid getting it wet and I managed to flop it in after about 5 min of getting there. XL5 is waterproof, RX winch controler and servo are not, nothing seemed to stop working, so I kept driving.

once this happened, I wasn't really trying to stay out of the water anymore.

thanks for looking

still looks like fun though

whenI first put it down and got bound up a little and saw one tire spinning and not the other, I thought to myself "no phlippin way" I totaly forgot I installed the spider gears, then I remembered. I liked it alot, felt very real driving it, and the spot I was wheeling at is very much like 1:1 wheeling around here, I had a blast.

this fueled my brain for my next build idea, I was about to sell my RTR axial too, now i'm thinking mud truck, I have some 6" tall V-Treads off of an old toy RC that I wish to use for this. will need a custom 3" rim though :s

I love using these in the mud, you're right it doesn't get old.

the chassis is an RC4WD Pro-Scaler chassis

took it out againt today, smashed my winch hook, I knew it was bound to break, but thought i'd have a bit more time with it, oh well, turns out the winch conrtroller doesn't like to get wet, it works but not as it should, I think it'll be ok once fully dry and I will give it the plastidip treatment.

these tires defenatly perform there best on dirt and mud, not the best rock tire i've used.

That thing is pretty cool. Sucks about the dump in the water though. That didn't ruin the electronics?

Which motor are you using in that? Looks like it has decent wheel speed.

35t motor with a 25t pinion, 87t spur, I like the wheel speed it gets, also using a 2s lipo

Nice shots. Do you notice if the open front diff makes the turning radius tighter? Or too small of difference to notice?

Hey. Thanks. The turning radius change was hardly noticed. I locked up the front diff again so I can keep up with everyone else's scalers.

It's a blast. Probably my favorite crawler to drive, unfortunatly it's going on the back burner for a while. It's got parts I want for my comp crawler. And the LHS is hosting a comp soon so I want to be ready for that.

It'll get rebuilt soon enough. And I'll be back hitting the trails hard
