Default Our New WalMart Crawlers.....

Well i've come to realize that this crawling is kinda addicting.been doing it about 2 month, and already have an axial, a losi mrc, and another axial. anyways on to the meat of the story. went to walmart with the wifey and kiddos early and just happened on these Maisto rock crawlers. 29.99 so i bought all 3 that they had. one for me, my little boy and little girl. he is 4 and drives the mrc, and i'm just trying to get her interested. we are about to drop in some batteries and see what they will do. pretty need probably about 1/16 scale or so. has MOA and decent tires. steering seems pretty strong. here are some pics and i'll update after some action.

hope you like them better than i did. i bought 1 early in the summer off ebay before they hit the shelves of walmart, i tried it for about 5 minutes &boxed it up &put it right back on ebay luckily i got exactly what i paid, mine wouldnt even climb over a pair of shoes, i wouldnt have another one if it was give to me. i did but the jeep crawler from toys r us &it put the maisto to shame.for a toy grade r.c.

well after burrning through 18 aa(6 each) batteries here is the verdict....my little boy whos 4 is pretty good with his losi mrc. he wasn't impressed. my little girl thought it was ok. myself....i mean it would climb ok. i did climb a few rocks around outside. would i buy another one when this are toast? probably not, but for $30 it ain't bad. so overall on a scale of 1 to 10 i'll go about 5-5.5

dang, I remeber when these came out, and going to walmart and buying everysingle one they had, I wish I still had one, they are hours of fun off of 1 AA best $5 ever spent.

as for the maisto crawler, it has crawling power but just clodstalls so all power is waisted. if you keep it on some pretty tame terrain they are kinda fun, I think getting the kids and yourself one was a great idea to all have comparable rigs, it was a good attempt, here's some action shots of mine.

looks like toys-r-us has a shafty out for about the same amount of money, I dont think I will get it just cause of the experiance with this one. but it looks like it has alot more potential, adding a hobbygrade servo and electronics seems very feasable, not much can be done with these unfortunatly.

Still got 3 of these from 4wheelsparts when I got my old truck lifted back in '04. The kids and I would make obstacles out of anything we could find in the living room.

DUDE! The Animal. I forgot about that. Wow. Memories.

What about those little monster trucks that were waterproof? I think they had 1 or 2 AA batteries. They were fun in the bathtub.
