Default Is it worth building a 2.2 clod cane

I have a chance to build a 2.2 clod cane for the same price I can buy a set of bully axles . The clod axles will have aluminum front tubes and knuckles and metals lockers front and rear , stock rear tubes with straight axle mod . the bully axles are used but turn smooth. I already have a pimp cane on the way , so my question is should I continue with my 2.2 clod build or buy me some bully's . can the 2.2 cane be competetive? Im willing to practice and learn to drive.

IMO, the clod axles are big for a 2.2. Their diff clearance is pretty low.

The Pimp Cane chassis works quite well. It will require a bit of a driving style change if you've never driven one. They can climb steep ledges and overhangs like no other!

you know, i have been wondering the same exact thing. i have a pair of old clod axles that literally need EVERYTHING replaced except the gears...

i was thinking going super with them, buuut, i am also thinking 2.2 as well....

No.

Not if your intention is to compete with it. I speak from experience. Browse this build thread for more info:

The rebuilding of The Grunt (2.2 pimp cane clod)

Now if you simply want to bash with it, as long as you keep it light weight, run a 14inch wheel base, and some decently tall tires, you will have a blast! The ground clearance from a pimp cane is incredible and it makes impossible ledges and break overs easily. But with the way crawling is advancing in design, there is no way a 2.2 clod will compete against a berg or XR10, or even a well tuned shafty.

It was a stick but regardless of the chassis it's not worth it for a conp rig. As Nova said, great basher.

well Im in too deep now . I'm just gonna have to build it . I haven thad a crawler in a year so It sohould be easy to adapt to since I dont have to change up driving styles. Its gonna be beefy enough to turn into a super when I have enough $$$ for a bully/berg roller
