Default does track width affect turning radius?

My rig is a clod , I have metal knuckles and tubes but my width is at almos 12 inches , would this be affecting my turning radius ? Should I wait till my berg offset wheels come before I start grinding on things? I am getting full lock (metal on metal ) on my steering and It looks like I could remove some material from the knuckles if needed. Thanks in advance -Bob

Yes, when you are talking positraction.

There are a couple of factors that combine here. One is leverage. The wider your track, the longer the lever (being center of the axle to the contact patch) is, so more force is needed to drag that tire about.

This then combines with the required differentiation in speed between the inside and outside tires to turn a given radius increases the wider your track. So, instead of the grip having to be compromised a little, it becomes a lot...Either the inside wheel has to bag up harder or the outside has to be dragged across the ground faster. End of the day, the chassis just finds it easier to push than turn.

Practical example. Think of a wheelbarrow. It has one contact point, and you can easily steer it around. Now, split that wheel in two and weld the hubs to a 3 foot long axle and try to steer it with a load of gravel
