That dude makes some cool bodies. His work has improved tenfold since he first started posting pics a couple years back.

He still needs to update his photos, a lot of the body pics are the older .005 material. He uses .008 nowadays, and does tons more reinforcing underneath. I don't know how he keeps the prices so reasonable, they're no more expensive than a Tamiya hardbody or scavenging a New Bright.

I did'nt see the Willys last time I visited his site. How frickin' cool is this? For 50 bucks?? I've been wanting to add a Jeep to my stable, this might push me over the edge...

Pretty sure I've seen a few builds on here where someone will take portions of a plastic body to make a mold and press their own aluminum panels. Seemed to work pretty well. I'll post a link if I can find it again.

Now if I could get a steel body that would show trail damage, and rust too

It says right on the website that they are supposed to dent! you ultimate scaller guys should love this. whats more scale than a mini dent from a mini rock!!

When I dent my 1:1 (no straight body panels on it) who ever was driving signs and dates the dent. Think of it like a battle scar. Each one tells a story.

I haven't seen any 1:1's look like this! And the Willy's body seems out of scale or to big?

Yeah the Ford did not fare too well, lol. For those who aren't aware, the crumpled F-350 pictured above was literally one of the first bodies I made and was made from 005 aluminum. It is the infamous "review" body that another member assembled and tested.

Since that very early body the thickness has increased twice and much has been learned about reinforcing. The box-art finished F-350 on the front page of my website is where the bodies have progressed to today, read through that build-up and you'll have a good idea of what to expect.

Yes, they are thin, but not delicate; they can be finished to a sturdy body that damages very realistically. Remember, like Hyde802 said, they are supposed to dent and get damaged.

On the "Gallery 2" page is a video of an aluminum Lunchbox rolling down a hill, it had been reinforced of course and it came out of that roll looking NICE!

If you're in the Everett, WA area and want to stop by and hold the box-art F-350 in your hands and actually feel it and see what it's like in person, send me a PM, maybe i'll see some of you soon!

Cheers!
Stew

Stew, what is the weight on the new bodies? Say the Toyota HiLux or the F350? Are the size of the bodies the same as the original bodies? Has anyone used fiberglass to reenforce them? I think they look amazing, I just worry about them ending up like that Ford! At least how I drive anyways!

Last question, can you bob and dovetail them?
