What size did you have? 5/16 works well for upper links and when you cut it down to size its pretty stiff.

looked at 5/16 and 3/8. i was expecting stiff material. it did not take much pressure to bend the short piece.

The flexibility is not really an issue once you cut them to length. Also, a little flex is good because in a tumble, it helps absorb some of the shock.

i use 1/2 inch delrin rod on my super's lower links. when i bought it at 5 foot lengths it seemed reallyy wobbly. but at 10-12 inches i had to hold one end down on a bench vice and the other w/ a 16" socket wrench to see if it would give | |

I think that you are referring to fiberglass reinforced delrin. No it is not being confused with regular delrin and no you dont want to use it. It is a huge pain in the butt to work with compared to regular delrin. How long of links are you trying to make here? Delrin is very strong and rigid compared to most plastics, if you dont like delrin then its time to go to some metal. |

They make glass filled Delrin. Mcmaster Carr has it in rods. /8 is the smallest size. Not sure what the ends would be like if shaped. Should be stiffer. White only. http://www.mcmaster.com/#acetal/=9p0ryc |

"acetal" is the technical name for delrin. Atleast that's what all my plastic suppliers have told me. |

I have made several set of upper and lower links out of Delrin with great success using both 5/16" and 3/8" rod, like said before 5/16" works great for upper links, for lowers I am currently using 5/16" drilled all the way through with threaded 8/32" rod all the way through and Revo rod ends, it has been working great, with out the rod all the way through them I did start to notice them beginning to warp a little, rear links are machined HC which are nice and stiff as well, I think as long as you go with 5/16" diameter or larger you will be fine.

One other thing to consider when it comes to people making delrin links is that a lot use allthread as the link material and sleeve it with delrin.
