Default Rustler Tranny...

I have an Rustler tranny, MFM chassis, and a pair of WK axles, so I am gonna throw together another rig. I am wondering what size pinion I should run with a 55t motor? Also, I am gonna run Traxxas shocks...what springs should I use?

what are your plans for the rig? Do you want to go real slow or have some wheel speed. What spur gear is on it? I use red springs on my shox but you will have to find what works for your application. The weight of your rig will matter to on the spring choice

I would like a little wheel speed, but more trail/crawling than anything. It is a newer style tranny, not sure what the stock spur is? I will try a few different springs once I figure out the rest of it!

45t and a 3s lipo or 35t and 2s lipo/7.2 nimh pack

That is most common for scale trucks, provides a good top end while maintaining low end control. the Crawler combo's from tekin are the best bang for the buck

Default shock setup

You need to lower that sucker. try running a semi droop setup w/ soft internal springs above and below the shock piston with some 50w/ fr & 70w in the rear. Maybe throw the battery on the chassis. I run this setup on one of my scalers and limits the travel somewhat but stays planted and level, most people have way to much travel anyway.

I lowered her a little. 35w in the front, 45w in the back.
