Default Your first crawler....

Is it still up and running???

I was looking through some older photos....June 2006 to be exact. After driving a friends stock TLT crawler with M2K tires on it I decided to build my first crawler. At the time you could still get Tamiya TLT kits for $69.00 bucks. The "factory" had yet to come out with RTR kits. So after surfing on on RCC for a bit I came up with this.... Chopped TLT chassis, Traxxas trans, 55T motor, etc

Beauty shot.

Since then I have worn out one body, one set of wheel and tires, and a few bent links over the years...But overall everything is as it was built originally. I still have it in action today. Just charge and go...

Anyone else still have an "old" rig still in action. I'd like to see some older home builts. So post up your old and current pics.

Sort of... My crawler went has went through several transitions before I tore it down to parade rest two weeks ago, rebuilding it into a sand buggy.

What it looked like right after I put it together:

Wish I still had mine. After scratching my head for way too long trying to figure out a viable way to build a set of solid axles out of TC3 parts (those were the days!) I picked up a TLT-1 the first week they came out.

I ended up ditching my homemade chassis for one of Bender's first chassis "kits". That was a fun rig and went many places w/ me.

Unfortunately, it was stolen when my house was burglarized two years ago. Don't mean to be a downer, but that's my first crawler story.

Attached is a pic from when my wife and I stayed in Moab on our western US road trip, a few days after getting engaged. One of the last pics I ever got of it.

My first "crawler" was a Tamiya TXT-1. Kept it mostly stock over many years and started modifying it into a real crawler a couple years ago. Since then I've added a Tamiya Tundra and more recently a Losi comp crawler to the stable.

I dont have pics of my first crawler it was a clodzila chassis, clod axled rig.

But I do have a video of it, I bought it in 2006 off of a member here. it had an oldschool novak rooster ESC in it, some 55t lathe motors and who knows what servo.

boring video but its all I got.

I dont have it anymore, I wish I did though.

My first crawler was a clodzilla 4 based clod way before the TLT ever came out. I tried my hand at monster truck racing with (thats why I originally built it), but it just wasnt as fun as bashing, which is what we called it back then... It was powered by 10 cells through a Super Rooster with handwound 16t mods in it and rolled on pro-line giant trac tires and custom foams. My first 2.2 truck was a TLT based truck. I couldnt wait to get my hands on that kit. Even ran the belt drive until I got fed up with the slipping so it got a losi trans out of XX buggy. I still have bits and pieces of those trucks, but unfortunately no pics that I know of.

My first crawler was an AX10, well a nylint. The AX10 was the first real crawler.
