I saw these on ebay. I've also seen them on various other trucks. What exactly are they using inside the bodies for a spring? And what is the advantage? I would think that they would be bouncy. http://cgi.ebay.com/ROCK-CRAWLER-INT...QQcmdZViewItem

I know rc4wd.com sells these shocks for $25 a set I think. Not too sure of what makes them better, they look more realistic than the normal shocks.

They probably aren't that bouncy - they should still use oil inside them as well. You can make your own with some Maxx sized shocks and Mini-T springs inside. But from what I hear, they don't really perform as well, and are harder to adjust since you can't change the preload as easily.

So basically these things are for scale rigs. If you want ease of adjustability stick with a coil over mini-T springs though? how about mini-lst springs? would those still work ? and wouldn't it be a pain and a total mess to swap out springs at a comp, oil everywhere, springs covered in oil, trying to put oil back in with new spring, and then trying to hold onto your tools with oil all over your hands

Pretty much - that's why most don't use them. They look cool, and would be great for a scale rig, but they are just inconvenient. And it would seem that the internal spring may limit some of the compression. I doubt Mini LST springs would fit inside Maxx sized shocks. The Mini LST shocks are oversized for 1/18 scale vehicles (just like how the 1/8 scale shocks are oversized). I hear Mini LST springs fit well around the outside of Maxx shocks, though.
