| how to mount your lipos?
Hey guys, kinda weird for me to ask this but how do you guys mountbyour lipos? I use velco, and a velco strap to hold it in, but now that I'm wanting to move my lipo into the beetle juice skid, there is no place to use a strap, and im in fear that lipo will fall out while running |

Before I swapped to an axle mount, I used to mount my pack on right on the skid using nothing but one strip of velcro (no strap) and never had it fall out. |

ah thanks jermey. What's your opinion on the axle vs skid battery mount.. I'm wanting to go back to a skid mount because I feel it has a lower cog, and if I fall from a drop, I don't have to worry about blowing up a lipo. |

Yeah, it all depends on your setup. I like having the weight unsprung, but I also have mine mounted above my lower links, so no chance of damage to the lipo.

I use velcro and it seems to work just fine. I'll be going to an axle mount once I get the bodiless chassis setup.

yea seems like mostly everyone is going battery on axle... a lot of locals say mount the bat on the skid, so in trying that for the first time with the bj.

My battery is held on a battery plate coming off the skid and it's just held by velcro. (not a velcro strap) and it holds just fine.

I agree with ya shelby, but then altering my weight may be a new plan to adjust the weight out |

| It all depends on where you mount it. Here is my current setup on the BJV4: As you can see, my battery sits at the same height as it would on the skid and it's quite a bit further forward than it was in the skid. Couple that with the reduction in sprung weight and it makes me a happy crawler. |

Dang jermey. I may have to take your idea, and place it on mine... btw, I was trying to make space on my skid last night, and mounted the rx on the rear motor, what's your opinion on that? The wires aren't even close to the lowers, and are going to be zip tied onto the top link |

Here is another battery mount that I made that allowed the pack to lay down between the links: This mount required that the gear cases be drilled and tapped as the mount bolted to the gearcase. As for your Rx being mounted on the rear motor....I suppose that would be fine, however, I prefer to have all of my electronics on the skid. It keeps the wiring a bit neater and being enclosed in the cab can help keep debris and moisture out....somewhat. |

| Doesn't sound like a very good idea to mount your RX on your motor. The electronic field created by that motor is much more likely to cause reception and/or glitching issues.

As for the damage question earlier..... This is why I prefer straight links in the front...you can see how the bent links will expose the lipo to potential damage...

| Even if I was using velcro, and had the battery extremely rigid I don't see any hit that could cause a problem. I just hold my battery on by a rubber-band is all. Lipos aren't all that fragile. I would much rather have maximum clearance.

Yeah, IMO Jeremy's mount is the way to go. You get unsprug weightt, it's protected and is out of the way from serious damage. I would like to have the cf mount harley has. That thing's pimp! |

hmm i would do like Jeremys way, but im worried about cutting that skid.. i messaged krawlfreak to see if he can sell just a skid just incase i dont like the bat on the motor.. for now, i am going to keep the RX on the back and see how much glitch i do get, since i was able to really clean my wires and have more space in the skid for my bat. Harley, who makes that battery mount? |
