| Cheapest place to buy lead "rope"?
I am wanting to add some weight to my crawler, and I need some lead "rope". My local grocery store has it (SMALL town!) but its expensive. I was going to try walmart, but since lead is one of the worst things out there according to the greenies, Im afraid they might not even have it. Where do you guys get yours? Thanks! |

I had a hell of a time finding it locally or on the internet. I ended up going to Walmart and buying some large fishing weights made of lead. Then I just pounded them out to fit in the channel of the wheels I was putting them in. Worked out well.

Finally found a name for it. "Bullet weights hollow lead wire" and found it here. http://www.sportsmanswarehouse.com/s...1318/cat101142 Every other place I found it on the net wants 6-7 bucks, so the local grocery's price of $7.50 isn't looking to bad. There is a sportsman's about 25min from here, but by the time I figure in gas, its cheaper locally. I will say one thing about these high gas prices, I have been doing ALOT more business locally! And my car gets 35mpg! |

| My wife works at a tire store, and I get all the tire weights I want for free! But for what I am planning, I need the lead wire.

I found lead rope in the fishing section of the local walmart here. I think it was a 1lb roll.

Ended up getting it at the local "sportsmans warehouse". $4.50 a roll, so much cheaper then on line. Bought two rolls, and I am glad I did. Ended up adding a pound and a half to my truck! Hopefully it works better now, the torsion chassis just didnt want to work without alot of weight added.
