| If you had $300....
And wanted a scale rig... What do you do? I really want an SCX10, but I really want to stay within the $300 bucks I have allotted. Is the trail ready honcho good? I already have batteries and chargers for it so thats good to go. Just want to see what the better guys here say! Thanks a lot! Justin |

If I had $300, I would buy this girl some cats, cause she really needs them E-Harmony Video Bio - She Loves Cats - Watch more Funny Videos kidding aside, I would go for a Axial Honcho like this: http://www.rpphobby.com/axial_scx10_p/ax90016.htm Great start and has the newer esc and radio that are much better then the previous versions. Great start for a kit and a good foundation to build on as your heart desires. With the addition of batteries it is ready to roll so you would be running right away. Normally I would recommend the kit version but it would go over your budget by a bit. The kit is on sale at RPP for 239.99: http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/ax90014.htm . You could go for a decent radio such as Spektrum DX3E for about $100: http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/spm3160.htm And then a servo such as Hitec 645: for $30: http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/hrc32645s.htm And a speed control, There is really only one option IMHO for a speed control for a scaler if it will see any water. Holmes BRXL. For the money why would anyone get anything else? About $106: http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/hh-tmbrx-wp.htm So that comes out to almost $200 over your initial budget (aprox $476.00) But you would have excellent electronics, A vehicle with better accessories that you will replace anyway. A better radio that can operate a winch which you may want, the stock Axial one will not (I think it is a 2ch). And you will get it in kit form so you get to put it together. I always opt for the kit versions as they are so much fun for me to put together. And you learn so much about it during that time. Good luck either way! |

Thank you guys! But the Honcho at RPP is still showing 299. Is it not on sale anymore? Not that 20 bucks or so will make or break it, but it would be nice for the lower price! Thanks again! Justin NVM Just reread your post. Sorry about that! Justin Last edited by WILDMAN442; 06-19-2011 at 05:21 PM. Reason: I am an idiot |

I would go in the "For Sale" Section and look everyday until I found someones scale rig for sale that I wanted...... Most of the time when you buy used, it's already been modded with aftermarket parts So you actually get more than you pay for Good Luck Regards V8 | |

| But RPP has the honcho kit for 239..... http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/ax90014.htm You could probably scrounge up a radio and decent esc/motor for it for 60 or so more keeping you in budget. |

I'd buy the Dingo TR and drive it. That's what I want to do.. But I've already got a Honcho kit I've driven and worked on a lot.. And an original scx-10 from when they first came out that's been a constant work in progress. I just like the looks of the Dingo and maybe put on a set of Proline tsl-sx and that's it, just drive it.
