Default Shocks and stop links and anything in stock general

I was wondering if anyone cuts out the stop links, and if so why or why not??

Also what do the limiting straps help, or is that just a cool thing to do?

anything else about shocks you all can give me a heads up on Thanks

I am searching for anything and everything usefull, but manly cant find anything on those questions

Relocation for the rear and maybe front shocks?

by stop links, do you mean the things that stick out of the chassis that keep the links form going down?

if so, do not remove them, the axles will pull themselves under the crawler and pull the shocks apart.

limit straps help if yo are having problems with the shocks pulling apart. make them just long enough to allow the shocks to ALMOST pull apart......i haven't needed them yet.....i might need them on the new chassis though, haven't even installed shocks on it yet.....

i moved the upper mounts of my rear shocks in about an inch on each side and it helped a lot with flex.

also, look under the blue blocks on the axles and you will see some little pivot stops, carefully drill them out and you will gain flex.

Cool thanks

I have been searching for some time now and have only found a one person that cut the stops off, and yes you understood what i was talking about by stops

Thanks again... will be relocating shocks and limiting straps next, flex is good

The only reason to cut off the stops on the chassis would be to do a tummy tuck that much farther. You'l gain prolly another 1/2"+ of ground clearence but you'll have to use limiting straps to limit the axle travel to the same place the stock limiters would have been. So all in all, cut them if you want the extra ground clearnce but not for more flex (cause your not going to get anymore than before).

It's not hard to make them capable of 90 deg. artic. You just have to clearence the axles a ton, shave the front of the control arms, and clearence the left front control arm so the freakin huge steering box can move up into the control arm, then triangulate both front and rear shocks as much as possible. My modded nylint is capable of 90 deg, but it's retarted to have that much. It hurts you maore than it helps. That's why I triangulated the front and rear shocks so that they will bottom out at about 70-75 deg, just perfect. It handles better and is much more stable. All in all it's possible to get 90, but stupid to not limit it to <=75 deg max.

So what if I mod mine to do 90* and then limit it using limiting straps to 75*, for the most part just mod it max and then adjusted it accordingly

Yeah, don't cut the tabs off the chassis! It's a bad idea in every way except for a higher tt, which I don't think your doing, so just leave them on there.
