Default tension on o-rings

how do I determine how tight I make the belt for the drive? I will be mounting my outboarded motor tonight and do not want to make it too tight/loose ... is there a general rule to this or just kinda go by feel?

to tight will cause you to eat the planetarys

when your bound up, the weak link is the belt system and it will slip...if you get the belt to tight, it cannot slip and the weak link will become soemthing else....most likely the couplers, but some people have munched the planetarys after putting in a belt that was to tight

i used an extra steering belt for the rear end of my crawler
it has alot of tension but its perfect; no slipping at all now on those crucial hill climbs.
you can see pics of the crucially modded crawler here
looke pics

i used the front belt from my stocker in the rear of my modded rig for the time being, but since my modded rig is dead, i guess i will put it back in the stocker so i can play with it......

i used a little shorter o-ring than the stock front belt for the motor relocation and its not extemely tight, u should be abe to move it back n forth while its on the pulley's about a 1/2 in. to feel the tension and u shouldnt have to use muscle to do this (just do it easy, u dont have to try n rip it off the pulley's

it depends on where the motor is sittin, mine is close to the front as i could get it and i tried to use the front belt but it was a tad too loose thought it would have proly worked but i wanted a lil more tightness

I think I have enough information.... I will try to take some pics while I am doing it.... the only thing im not 100%on is the locking of low.... but I think I just need to look at the axle to understand where to hot glue it
