| Is Shaving The Rear Axle Worth It?
I was just wondering how much work it takes to shave the rear axle, can someone post some pics/instructions for me. Is it worth what it takes to do it? Ive already done a tt, inboarded front/rear shocks, reversed the tires, and cut the tire tread

It is crucial... 3rd in line from the TT, then the inbord of the shocks. People have had varying time with the shave.. from 1 hour to 4-5 hours if you run into trouble. but it is VERY worth itmy nice trial will be shaving the rear!!! here is the shave thread(all you have to do is search or look at the ultimate mod sticky) rear axles shave pics Scott |

yes and this is how when approaching an obsticle the has a straight incline at the start your front tires r going to hit first and go up and over then when the back tires approach the obsticle the center of that rear axle is the first thing that hits, cauising you not to go anywhere, you can go at an angle and you will ussually get up but other times you cant go at an angle. i would do it, well i did and i like it alot tha back tires hit and grab : 0 |

Worth it: yes What it does: Increases your approach and departure angles. You will be able to climb curbs straight on without the rear axle hitting the curb first, halting your progress. The three most crucial mods would be the tummy tuck, rear motor relocation/shaved axle, and savage shocks. |

savage shocks are not a crucial mod, the last mod should hav been a lexan body.

I just finished with shaving the rear axle. It is a pain in the butt, it took me about three hours taking my time and trips to home depot. I would only do it if you have a spare crawler/rear axle. I used the hose clamp to hold my rear motor and locked the rear in low.

I wouls disagree.... it took me 30 minutes to do my TT... but I ran into a whole bunch of problems(belt tightness, not locking in low correctly)before my rear shave worked correctly... everyone does it different and has different skill sets.... I was merely giving the range of times I saw people take.... |

I'm in the wrong hobby then.... I guess I'll quit today. I had a series of small problems. I'm sure I am the minority. If I did another one it would take less than an hour now. Locking it in low made me throw a fit and it took me 3 times to get it right. Eh. Whatever. I'll keep my mouth shut next time if I have trouble and tell anyone that wants to do any mod that it takes 10 minutes and you only need a philips head screwdriver. When people ask about a mod I would prefer to give them an honest timetable.. If all goes well... its an hour... If not it could take a bunch of time. Thank you for not understanding. Oh yeah.. and 5hrs < day Last edited by S-Dog; 06-15-2006 at 04:03 AM. |
