| who makes shocks 5-5.5" long?
ive got 4" shocks on my txt right now and i wanna experiment with a little longer shock, i know savages are like 6.5" that seems like it'd be too long. does anyone make shocks that are around 5-5.5" long?

Don't know if your going for travel or just to increase ground clearance. But, you could just get a longer ball end for the shock shaft.

Any 1/8 scale buggy rear shocks should be around that length. You could also check out some X-factor shocks...those are about 5" I believe.

thanks for the suggestions guys. im mainly looking to get the chassis up a little higher. i think the longer ends for the shock shafts is the best idea for my application...

You could get a set of savage schocks, and cut the springs by about about an inch. this way, (IMO) the ride-height will be lower, and can still have a lot of travel if necessary. By the way, how's the crawling in Vegas? I have been there on vac. twice, and just love it!!! Here in TX, we dont have too many rocks:-( What am I saying, you can never have too many rocks!!!! |

If you didn't know it,you only gain about a 1/2" of travel out of the Savage shocks compaired to 4" maxx shocks. If you put a maxx shock and a Savage shock side by side and measure the actual distance the shaft travels(not the overall length of the shocks) you only gain like 1/2" or 5/8" at the very most. It's not worth the headache of trying to cram a biga$$ shock in a little chassis for the "extra" tiny bit. You can get well over 90 degrees of flex(witch is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY to much) out of a 4" maxx shock, why would you need the "extra" tiny bit of travel. If all you want, like it sounds like he does,is to gain or loose a little ride height,it's to easy to just swap out rod ends or adjust your upper mounts a hair. | |

Savages are 6-3/4in. You could get Cen Genesis Shocks. They are 5-1/2in long and have a working res. on them.

i am using savage shocks on mine and they are 6.5" full open eye loop to eye loop. and using short springs and soft oil to get both up and down travel... will post picks when the truck is done.
