| Looking for 1st decent MOA
I have been crawling for 2 yrs, have 3 mini losi crawler (stock mostly, Gate Keeper & pro roller in build stage now...also have 2 sons crawling with me) & building losi comp crawler for sportsman class...way too much money spent on LCC so far. I want to add a MOA for comps this year as well. I am wondering thoughts on XR10 say billet works Thing or Manitis versus Berg or ? Say I am willing to spend $1k or so and already have DX3c or would buy 4pl if needed (not included in 1k price). Just wondering if you could start over & had $1k or so what you would build. Be specific. Thx in adavance. Cheers!

Stick to the classifieds...You should be able to pick up a decently built XR10 or Berg for less than 1K. Also I would definitely go with the Futaba and bag that DX3c.

I would buy a star, then look for a used XR-10 with VP gear cases. I've seen rigs in the $300-$650 range (no radio, maybe without ESC's) with a lot of upgrades. I like my Bully, but driving my sons XR-10 is a bit of an eye opener. As to radios, a 3PM-x with a WantAmix can run dual ESC's (my set-up), 4PL or a hacked GT3B from LosiKid. A Bully can be a nice solid rig, but you have to be creative to work around some of it's shortcomings (part of why I still have mine). |

I went with a Berg V1 for my first time. Almost 2 years later I'm still working on completing it with the Beetlejuice BJ4 chassis. This is just me though. I get much more from the build than operation. Once I know it operates at it's fullest capability, I'm on to the next project. I can smell a scaler coming. Chaotic Crawlers provided me with awsome titanium links. Make sure to check them out for all sorts of aftermarket, difficult to find specialties to make your project the best! (How was that, Eric??) |
