Default The Blue Monkey Needs a Little Help !!!

Hey guys I need your help deciding on the finish of our new line of knuckle/axle weights. I'm a little crazy and don't always follow the crowd so I'd like to get the opinion of the masses before I coat a bunch of parts in a color customers are going to hate.

Please take a minute to read the description, look at the pictures and make your selection in the poll.

All of the weights are made from the same leaded brass material. We use brass with a very high lead content due to the weight advantage it provides. Unfortunately just like any other brass it will eventually tarnish without some kind of coating.

#7 is raw material, tumbled finish already beginning to tarnish.

#1 has been blackened using a blackening technique gunsmiths use giving the weight a flat "antique" finish.

#2 the Losi weight is powdercoated satin black, very durable and slick (my favorite)

#3 is the same finish as #2

#4 the wraith weight is a coated with a clear semi gloss powder and is very difficult to get perfect (highest reject rate, lots or rework)

#5 and 6 are two different are semi gloss blues... blue fits the whole "blue monkey" theme well.

please also consider cost... is it worth it? for example the clear powder may look the best but adds the most cost.

...say a typical knuckle weight set is $60 with no paint of any kind. Powdercoating black satin will add about $5 to the set. Blue powder and chemically blackening adds $7 per set and clear powder would add approx. $10 to the total cost.

Thanks in advance

"the stopwatch doesn't see the paint job."

For me, if it works, I really don't care about the rest since I beat the beegeezers out of it anyway....thus, the finish will get hammered.

Better drivers will likely have better opinions......

Personally I think #5 would hammer home brand recognition. Bright ass monkey blue. But that's just me.

yea i was hoping the blue would be more popular...

but the black looks better in person than in my craptastic pic so if you guys like it from the picture then you will love the finished product.

I like the black but BLUE is one of my favorite colors! Maybe offer the blue as an additional option?
