Default traxxas 32-pitch trans

anyone using this trans in a crawler? I know that the pede trans is primarily used, but since I already have one handy...just wondering if its been done and/or is it a capable trans to use.

The problem with the Sledge tranny is that the motor is mounted on top. The pede's mounts it lower. Other than that the tranny is well built. I have a sledg and have beat it without damaging a gear.

Default gears that are shown

there is a cover just like that of the pede trans. so really, there are no gears shown. I do not run a cover...so there is the pinion and spur gear showing. the only setback that I can see is not having low enough gearing available, and the fact that the output shafts cannot be removed from the outside like on the pede. Plus if you break them...you can't just buy a cheap plastic output...you have to buy one that has a metal shaft incorperated into the output.

I would check the gear ratio first, then compare it to say, a pede trans... Or you could try it and let us know how she goes ;)

If you use a Nitro Pede diff in the Sledgehammer tranny, you can use the regular output yokes instead of the pain in the neck stock ones with the e-clips holding them in from the inside. Of course, if you're going to buy a new diff & output yokes, you might as well just get the whole E Pede tranny in the first place.

Default pinion

well, I ordered a 9 tooth pinion gear today...guess I will see what that does. The stock pinion is 11...I had trouble finding anything lower, plus if I go any lower it might mess with the meshing of the gears...but I don't know, this is only my 2nd. 32 pitch trans a have messed with.

Yeah...for the price of ordering all the parts I wish I still had my pede trans. I found out that if you leave things laying around for too long at my house they seem to disapear...in the TRASH...:-(
