You'd want the 10. But honestly, you won't want any of them. Save a bit more money up and buy an Axial. |

Given your budget and desire to build your own, I vote Redcat Everest 10 for $135; lots of scaler build threads to follow in the rs10 forum. That's my plan too. Remember to make a build thread with pictures. ;) |

sit down and do the math you will need new rims and tires....stock tires stink and are offset all wrong and limit steering....2.2 on a scaler will have tire clearing issues with the fenders cause you will need to get shorter shocks because the ride height and CG are way to high. you might be able to use the stock chassis but it will be a pain to mount bumpers and you need axial lockers for the axels because the stock plastic lockers wont last....for starters....and I don't really know how long the stock power system will last. Just to get the stock truck to climb good would be $100 and an AE2 esc and 27T motor will be about $60. If you want it to turn better get some universals about $35. So now your total cost is with the $140 for the max is around $335 and its still not a scaler I have or had a Everest 10, same as maxstone. I got it set up and running good....but I wanted a scaler. for me to be happy I had to convert it into a scx10....basically all I had from the E10 was axels and driveshafts. In the long run its cheaper to get a scx10 RTR and do some needed upgrades...or an asender. Evereytime I looked at it I spent $10, 20, 50. It adds up quick Not trying to talk you out of the maxstone just sharing my adventure to building a scaler. today there is nothing left on my scaler that is from the E10...its all axial. yes it would have been cheaper to get an SCX10 kit and go from there but I did enjoy the journey and learned a lot for my first crawler |

I think it depends on what level you want to take it to. The 1060 esc is sufficient for beginners. Cvds are optional upgrades for just about any crawler. The tires aren't great but can be modded for minimal performance. I've added it up here to the tune of $65; $35 if you skip lipos and mod your nimh to fit on the front axles and homemade sliders: Top Everest 10 mods and upgrades Last edited by StomperCrawler; 04-02-2016 at 02:25 AM. |
