need some trouble shooting help...

so after helping my friend build his clod based crawler i decided i needed to make some mods to my 1/6th so i decided i would strip down the whole thing and just use the axles amd make my own creation. the prob im having is i re-located the rear motor but now for some reason my high/low gear doest switch in the rear anymore. now i was having problems with it when it was stock where id have to switch i a couple times before it would go in im wondering if th motor quit cause i dont even hear it trying to move the selector. any idea's? i figure if it never works no big deal dont use high gear much but to chase the dog around
