You sound surprised. That's a go fast setup you got there.
Could try and getting a way smaller pinion. But I doubt that will help.

22tooth pinion is way over geared for crawling. I would get pinions 12-16 and play with the gearing. It's going to vary with tire size and rig weight.

That motor is a beast in a go fast rig. Ran one for a short time in my dingo, it never crawled well, even with a 15T pinion. Too much cogging and it loved to revv.

Holy crap. Yea, I'm amazed your had a good time with the vxl, let apple the new one. Idk what to tell ya man, you got lucky before. It ain't gonna happen. If you went sensored you'd get better results. But even then that's really too much IMO.
I'm sure it's bad as hell when your on the gas, but the best of both is hard to find.

Crawling with a sensor less set up sucks. I'd get rid of what you have and get a MMP and a Tekin or Novak sensored brushless motor. You'd be much happier with a set up designed for a crawler.

well its in a scaler not a comp crawler. do i dont need super ba crawl ability just enough. im just gonna mess with the gears till i can get it as good as its gonna get. probly gonna drop the pinion down a bit till its gets decent. i just ordered a 17 18 19 gonna see where that gets me

I don't even like the sensorless setups in my rally car or HPI Mini-trophy truck, but at least with them I'm not trying to crawl.

I'm not even sure a gearing change is going to help enough to make a good crawler, but I'd be interested to see how this turns out for you.

I'd have to agree with crawler nut...get a MMP and sensored motor

If i was doing a comp crawler or more of scale crawler i would i have went diffrent but since i mainly trail run mudbog and ttc i dont really need super crawlabily. if i can get it as good as it was with the vxl velienion 3500 setup then i will be happy and now i have a drag brake. so i will see how things go but i love the powwa this beast makes now

Once you get it sorted out, post up a video of how it does. Both fast and slow.

How are you getting a drag brake with the vxl system?

I'd drop that down to a 10t pinion.
I have a mmp and pro4 4000 with a summit trans and it does awesome on the low and high end!
I was running a vxl w/summit trans when I built my first rig... it was ok with a 10t but never great.
