| Shock rate question?
I'm putting Traxxis big bore shocks on my granddaughters Honcho. They came with red stiff springs, so I looked up shocks for scx10 in the scx10 section and searched and found guys were using losi mini springs. So got them and jeepin dougs spring cups. Not really happy with the way the springs fit on the shocks. Is this a legit way to run to run shocks and springs?(see picture) My next question is REGULAR losi shock springs am I correct in thinking the spring rate RED 2.6 is the hardest and WHITE 1.8 is softest. Don't want to spend any more money than I already have. Thanks

First, those are Traxxas big bore shocks. The losi springs will work on those shocks, as for rates, black is the softest, then gold, grey, white, and yellow.

Sorry, I know those are Traxxas shocks, I bought them new, eight in a package. Again please, please forgive me. Yes, I know they fit but is this a legit set-up and you listed black, gold, grey, white and yellow, but they came with RED, so to give me an idea on firmness where is red in that group? Yeah that's a legit way to run them. I'd check your local hardware store for springs.

The red is the traxxas springs and I am pretty sure that they are stiffer than the yellow Losi springs I mentioned. That set of shocks are meant for a monster truck, with it's big tires it needs a higher rate spring. A good starting point for springs for those shocks would be Losi white springs. Though I can't remember the colors for the mini springs, You could start with the firm on the front and medium on the rear, and yes that is how those springs are when used on the big bore shocks.

I run the factory wraith kit springs on my big bores and really like them. IIRC the springs were purples, but not positive and I'm away from my rig at the moment Sent from a rock |

It also looks like those spring retainers are the wrong ones for mini springs. If the silvers are to soft, step up to green, then blue. You can also try mrc springs for different rates as well.
