Default Helical ring and pinion gears sets with an offset pinion?

Is there an rc application that uses a helical ring and pinion that has the pinion offset from the axle centerline. As I am sure many of you know the more offset the pinion is from the centerline the more tooth engagement there is. Friction increases as well as strength so there is (like everything) a trade off. This is one of the reasons that the heavily offset ford 9" is so strong for its size.

Two things I see missing from the typical rc crawler axle is the offset pinion and ring gear load bolts. I can take care of the latter but I would like to find an existing gear set.

I'm not aware of any gear sets like that in any scale of RC. My guess is the extremely high production cost.

I was just looking at a buddy's losi 8ight today and noticed that the rear diff housing had a off center axle. Not sure if that will help or not.

Looks like the bevel gear may have been outboard instead of inboard like most center line diffs.

What am I missing? I don't see where the cost would be any greater than the other machined helical gear sets that are on the market.

Just to clarify, I am looking for the pinion to be offset below (or above in the front diff) the axle center line. Being offset to the side doesn't improve strength.

We are talking about Hypoid gears

You will need a Special purpose mini machine to be built in order to cut gears that small. Look at the video I have posted. The complexity in machining the hypoid gear geometry. There are several axis of the machine that are working in a synchronized way.

They are quite a bit different to machine I believe. It's not just a helical cut.
