| learning to crawl
Hey, I've been reading for awhile, decided to join in the fun. I'm new to crawling with a shiny new pti crawler. I put an integy 75t motor, 91t spur (had to mod the bottom plate) and a 12t pinion, both 48 pitch. I also put in the water proof lrp sc, "waterproofed" jr something or another metal geared servo and an old jr radio set I had laying around. 3600 reedy battery. My problem is I am running out of power whilst climbing stuff, I need more snot out of her. I cannot seem to find lower gearing anywhere. I have read alot on here but haven't really seen much info for these trucks. I was thinking of trying some 64 pitch gears if they come in lower ratios. Any suggestions? Please help. You need a GD-600 gearbox to slap on there. Because the stock PTI only has a spur and pinion as a transmission, it lacks any sort of decent reduction.

Could you post a shot of your gear reduction unit mounted? I read your post and am very interested in doing that. Also, where could I find one of those units? Thank you |

This one isn't mine, but he took some good photos: http://www.one18th.com/forums/showth...ghlight=gd-600 Keep in mind that he also narrowed his, which isn't entirely necessary, but helps to make room. Otherwise, you'll probably have to cut away some of the electronics mounting plate to make it fit. Also, you have to turn down the output shaft on the GD to fit standard 3mm pinions. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...=++&search3=Go You could got the easy (and beefier) route and get the RC4WD gear reduction unit, but it's twice the price of the GD. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43973 |

Just like KB said, the GD600 is the ticket. If you do decide to to that route be sure to brace the back of the motor to keep a constant mesh.
