Default Electric NOS

The other night I was bored and figured why not. I had all the stuff laying around and thought I might as well put it to use. First I'm going to try just one cell, and maybe go to two cells.

All I did was zip tie a cell to a mini servo, Hitec HS-225BB to be exact, and made it so the servo is basically the switch. I have a wire coming from the positive side of that cell sticking up, and a wire on the servo horn to close the circuit when the swtich is flipped on the radio. I'm going to wire it in a series, as I've already got the max cells the Moped can handle.

Ok, pics:
First pic: Open circuit
Second pic: Closed circuit
Third Pic: Gives an idea of the size in the palm of my hand

Interesting idea, I imagine after a while you would lose contact with the wires though.

neat but wouldnt just adding it to the pack be lighter? (ie no need for the servo)

I see, flip the switch and an extra cell comes into a circuit?

So how are you going to go about 'adding' it to the vehicle? What I mean is; If you're adding that to be a boost for the pack that's already there, it has to be added in-line with that pack. But if the servo 'circuit' is 'off', the whole complete battery circuit is incomplete, that is untill the added cell is 'turned on'.
I guess I don't see how that'll work.
Adding the cell to the pack would be better. I have virtually the same thing going with all my rigs... If I don't need all the power of the pack, I drive with 3/4, 7/8 throttle, then get my 'boost' by pulling the trigger a little more.

He's right. What you need to do is wire up a DPDT toggle switch and have it wired so one side is the regular pack, and the other side is the +1 pack

ESC can only handle 7 cells. I already have 7 cells in the pack. This is wired in series to the other pack.

Yeah. My ESC doesn't like the extra power. I engaged it, and it just shuts off.

Duh, that makes it an 8-cell, in series. That's why your esc doesn't like it.

If that's the case, It won't give you any boost. Maybe run time, but with 1 cell paralleled to 7, don't expect much if anything.

Most of the switches I use have 3 connections.

At any time two of the three are closed.

You could wire that battery into the circuit using a switch that would allow you to run 6 cells then flip the switch and run seven cells.

A lot of trouble though...especially when a little trigger management will work much better.

I see something like this about every couple months over at my forum. For amusement purposes I keep lists of them. i always wonder why someone would take a nice proportional throttle and add some rube goldberg contraption to make it "better"..
Using the servo to "tweak" the timing on the motor can would be my #1..

I could go on and on about this stuff, I find it entertaining.

Well, the tabs are all broke on this servo, so it could never be mounted. Plus, this is just a blow some time type of thing. Something for fun.

I agree, learn to use the throttle better and you'll have your so called "boost"

You can also just add a tooth or two to the pinion size for even better "boost"

Since you are already modding the esc, and assuming you have the same mopeds i do v16r , i have succesfully ran many times one of my mopeds with 8 cells 1800mah stick from max amps without it shutting down, your's shouldn't be shutting down either.
