Default Loud disrupter gear box?

Hey y'all. I just got a rc4wd Sub Zero rig. I just got it together and running today. It has the disrupter planetary transmission and transfer case. My question is if any of y'all has had one of these, and are they all loud as a box of rocks? I'm going to tear it down and change the grease in it tomorrow and see if that quiets it down any. Is that just the nature of these gear boxes? Any input will be appreciated.

Planetary gear boxes are noisy be design. Now if this qualifies as a 'box of rocks' I can't be sure. The Disruptor t-cases that I've used have all been quiet and reliable.
